Happy Birthday Saurav Ganguly. Ganguly, who was born on July 8 in 1972, turns 44 today. With Ganguly, there is a fascination that the average Indian cricket fan has had. He is remembered both as a cricketer and as a captain. His most memorable knocks have been those according to some where he has cut loose, hitting his favourite shot, a six. Recently, Ganguly was in news over the controversy involving Ravi Shastri. There is a big fallout from the whole controversy between Ganguly and Shastri that everyone may have missed. And that is the fact that the both may not be seen together in the commentary box again.

While granted that it may not be as big a spat as the one between actors Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan, it is significant nevertheless. One would be surprised if the two are found in the same commentator’s box again.

Watch this space for more on the whole saga. Ganguly had not taken lightly to Shastri’s comments and had said that the latter may be living in a fool’s world. According to a piece in, Ganguly had come out swinging. Ganguly said, “I am extremely surprised and saddened by the comments of Ravi Shastri. It was already previously decided that I will attend the CAB working committee meeting on the day of these coach elections.” He did not stop there and added, “If Ravi thinks because of me that he is not the coach of Team India, then he is living in a fool’s world. Ravi has made a personal attack which was not expected and is very saddening.”
