The acclaimed electronic music carnival of Goa, Sunburn, is reaching viewers via Bollywood. “Sunburn – The Movie” will be directed by 7 well known directors under the mentorship of Anurag Kashyap. The movie will be co-produced by Percept Pictures, Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Phanton Films. The shooting will be held at various locations, including venue of the festival. Amit Trivedi will set the movie to music.

The movie’s launch party was held this week, attended by officials from Phantom Films and other bigwigs of the film industry as well as business world. “Today we announce ‘Sunburn-the film’, thank you Percept and Viacom for backing us. It was shot discreetly at the last SUNBURN with 7 directors,” said Kashyap in a tweet after the party.

“Sunburn is a global dance music festival – SUNBURN fans go beyond the ones who have attended the festival. Fans have relished the experience and we thought of enhancing the same through cinema. With likeminded partners Viacom 18 and Phantom, we want take this to the next level, “ said Jt. MD of Percept Limited & Inceptor of Sunburn, Shailendra Singh.

“Sunburn is by far the biggest cult event in the country. The way this brand has grown over the last 4 years is extraordinary. We are delighted to partner with Percept and Phantom to extend this power brand into an exhilarating cinematic experience, making it the first festival film in the world,” said Vikram Malhotra, COO, Viacom18 Motion Pictures.

Hailing Sunburn as a world class music fest and a great platform for real life stories, Vikas Bahl of Phantom films said, “We are happy to join hands with Percept and Viacom 18 for making a film around the festival and launching 7 New Directors. It is rare to find one platform from where so many different stories can emerge while music is the passion that holds them together.”

Goa’s Sunburn Music Festival has, without fall, been ranked in the top 10 music festivals of the world, without sliding down the graph.
