Swami Aseemanand: “It’s a conspiracy of the NIA”
Swamy Aseemanand who has been allegedly accused of being involved in the Samjhauta train bombing, has stated that the entire plot is a conspiracy by the NIA. Pleading that he did not have any involvement in the bombing, he said stated that he never knew Kamal Chauhan. He was produced in a local court in Panchkula during the hearing on Samjhauta blast of 2007 that left 68 people, mostly Pakistanis. However the case has been adjourned to 7 March, with NIA’s Special Judge Subhash Mehla being on leave.
“I don’t know Kamal Chauhan. It’s a conspiracy of the NIA,” said Swamy Aseemanand outside the special NIA court.
The case was adjourned by Additional District and Sessions Judge, Kanchan Mahi. “Today, arguments on framing of charges against Aseemanand and another accused Lokesh Sharma were to take place, but now they will take place on the next hearing,” said Special Prosecutor of NIA, RK Handa.
Kamal Chauhan, who is alleged to be closely working for key accused of Samjhauta case Kalsangra and Sandeep Dange was arrested from Noida. He is believed to have claimed in front of media men on 14 February about the planting of explosives on the train. He is also stated to have undergone rigorous arms and ammunition training in Madhya Pradesh and Haryana. He is under the custody of NIA till 24 February for interrogation.
On 20 June 2011, Swamy Aseemanand, Lokesh Sharma, Sandeep Dange alias Parmanand and Ramchandra Kalasangra alias Ramji were charged by the NIA for allegedly hatching a criminal conspiracy, after a 4 year probe. Another person Sunil Joshi, who was accused along with the others is now no more. The conspiracy is stated to be in connection with the Samjhauta Train blast of 18 February, 2007.
