Following a fall of 59.81%, owing to workers unrest at Manesar, Maruti Suzuki Ltd has made its purchase of land in Mehsana, Gujarat for setting up manufacturing services. This will be a major establishment of Maruti outside Haryana.

The board “granted approval to purchase land in district Mehsana, Gujarat, for future expansion of manufacturing facilities. This purchase would be subject to final negotiations on price and all legal formalities being completed”, said an official statement.

Meanwhile Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has hailed the decision taken by Maruti Suzuki. “I welcome Maruti Suzuki’s decision to come to Gujarat. Gujarat is moving ahead fast as Asia’s auto hub. With Maruti, the pace will accelerate,” tweeted Modi. “It’s Gujarat’s new year and this is Maruti’s gift to Gujarat on this occasion,” said Modiji.
