BJP MP Tarun Vijay Arrested for Protest Against Reduction of Amarnath Yatra Days

BJP MP Tarun Vijay has been arrested for his protest against the reduction of the period of Amarnath pilgrimage from 60 to 39 days. He was part of a huge gathering that protested against the move made by the state government. Along with Tarun Vijay, BJP Member of Parliament JP Nadda has also been arrested.

“Huge turn out in Jammu against reducing Amarnath yatra period from 60days to 39 days.Me &Shri JP Nadda MP took part in Jammu today.Arrested,” tweeted Tarun Vijay. “Appealed to Omar to see reason and restore yatra period to its original time table. State must not try to regulate religious matters, ” said the BJP MP in another tweet to the state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

Just as he was about to join the protest yatra, Tarun Vijay made his first tweet 11 hours ago. “Joining Jammu agitation for Amarnath Yatra. Har Har Mahadev,” said the tweet.

BJP leaders, JP Nadda and Tarun Vijay joined devotees for the march that was led by Mahamandaleshwar Divyanand. The leaders of the march said that they were open to talks provided the Board comes up with ample and steady measures. They will also challenge the state administration for referring to the yatra as “un-constitutional”.
